Is it possible to seek review from the Texas Supreme Court without first filing a motion for rehearing or reconsideration in the court of appeals?
Yes. That requirement was eliminated effective September 1, 1997. See Texas Rule of Appellate Procedure 49.9; Texas Mexican Ry. Co. v. Bouchet, 963 S.W.2d 52, 54 n.3 (Tex.1998).
