What is the “Texas Commission of Appeals of the Texas Supreme Court”? What does “opinion adopted” mean?
From 1918 through 1945, the Texas Supreme Court was assisted by the “Texas Commission of Appeals of the Texas Supreme Court.” From March 21, 1934 through 1945, the Texas Supreme Court adopted all of the opinions of the commission, and those opinions have the exact same precedential value as opinions of the Supreme Court. Prior to that time, the Supreme Court only adopted selected opinions of the commission. The designation “opinion adopted” refers to all of the adopted opinions (both before and after March 21, 1934).
