What is a “cross appeal”? In Texas, what is the deadline to file a “notice of cross-appeal”?
If a party files a notice of appeal and the opposing party also wants to change the trial court’s final judgment (or other appealable order), he/she should file a “notice of cross appeal.” See Texas Rule of Appellate Procedure 25.1(c). In Texas, if one party timely files a notice of appeal, the deadline for the opposing party to file a notice of cross appeal is the generally-applicable deadline or fourteen days after the first notice of appeal was filed, whichever is later. See Texas Rule of Appellate Procedure 26.2(d).
