What is a “record reference”?
In a Texas appellate brief, a “record reference” is a reference to a page in the appellate record (i.e., the clerk’s record or the reporter’s record). For example, “CR 123” is a record reference to page 123 of the clerk’s record. An appellate brief is required to include record references. See Texas Rule of Appellate Procedure 38.1.
